Historic masonry repair requires working with the materials and construction methods already in place. We repair and repoint aging brick and stone, replace deteriorated brick or stone where necessary and rebuild affected areas while preserving the character of the original masonry.
Historic brickwork was often laid with softer lime-based mortar. When repointing deteriorated joints, we use mortar selected to be compatible with the strength and composition of the existing historic masonry.
Historic masonry often includes original bond patterns, arches, corbeling, decorative brickwork and stone details that can be difficult to reproduce once altered or removed. Repairs are carried out with attention to the original layout, materials and workmanship so the repaired areas remain consistent with the existing masonry.
